CISTI'2009 - Doctoral Symposium: Guidelines for presentations
To facilitate the preparation of the presentations that the authors will perform in the Doctoral Symposium, we provide below a set of useful information to the speakers:
1) The rooms of the sessions will be equipped with a PC and a Video-projector (if necessary, the authors may also request a overhead projector;
2) The presentations can be performed in Portuguese, Spanish or English;
3) Each author has a slot of 20 mins (10 mins for the presentation and 10 mins for Q&A);
4) The authors should be in room 10 mins before the beginning of the session (to check-in and prepare the session with the chair).
5) Authors should focus on the following points:
- brief presentation of the work (Theme, School, general area)
- what are the goals of the work
- what has been done before
- how does the author intends to address the problem
- with which methodology and why
- development so far
- results so far
- conclusions or future work
6) There is a "best presentation award" for the work with the best ranking using the following criteria:
- overall presentation of the work (25%): clear structure, clear content, good time management
- capability to answer and argue with the committee (15%)
- overall structure of the work (goals, state-of-the-art, method) (40%)
- capability to show the scientific interest of the work (20%)
